JavaScript was the first technology created to bring the internet to life (long before Flash came along and ate up all your CPU...) allowing for responsive interactive pages in a previously flat and boring web. It remains the most powerful means by which programmers can truly take control of a website visitor's browsing experience.

JavaScript development & programming consists of creating client-side "scripts", snippets of programming code that run within the web browser of whoever visits your web site. These scripts allow you to control the behaviour of the browser in a massive variety of ways.

Anything that can be achieved with Flash can also be achieved using JavaScript in a much more efficient manner, as JavaScript provides a more "low-level" interface to the browser than Flash does.
